BioRePeel vs a classic TCA peel: downtime, results, who each suits.

5 min de lectura

Both peels use trichloroacetic acid. One leaves you peeling for a week, the other is usually invisible to people around you. Here is how to choose.

TANOVA AESTHETICS is a single-practitioner clinical skin studio at 2100 E Hallandale Beach Blvd, Unit 201, Hallandale Beach, FL 33009, where Tatiana performs every appointment. The studio offers BioRePeel, a 45-minute two-phase peel run as a base course of three sessions about three weeks apart, extended when the skin needs it. It does not offer classic medium-depth TCA peels. Patients often ask how the two compare, usually because they have heard that BioRePeel is a TCA peel. It does contain TCA, but it behaves very differently. This article compares chemistry, downtime, results, and who each one suits.

What a classic TCA peel is

TCA, trichloroacetic acid, has been used in skin peels for decades. Its effect depends mainly on concentration and on how many layers are applied. Low concentrations act on the surface. The classic medium-depth peel, typically performed in a dermatologist's or plastic surgeon's office, reaches into the upper dermis.

TCA works by coagulating proteins in the skin. During the peel the treated area turns white, a reaction called frosting. Over the following days the skin tightens, darkens, and then sheds in visible sheets and flakes. With a medium-depth peel, that phase usually lasts about a week, and the new skin underneath stays pink for a while longer.

What BioRePeel is

BioRePeel combines TCA with salicylic and lactic acids, and adds vitamins, amino acids, and GABA to the formula. It is applied in two phases. Phase A is lipophilic: it moves through the oily surface layer and carries the acids in. Phase B is hydrophilic and activates the chemistry on contact. The session ends with a neutralizing rinse, a calming serum, and mineral SPF.

The combination is designed to stimulate the skin and refine the surface without the protein coagulation and sheet peeling of a classic TCA peel. Most patients have no visible peeling at all. Some notice a fine micro-peel around day three, usually invisible to others. The visible result, brighter and more even skin, shows in 48 to 72 hours.

Downtime side by side

A medium-depth TCA peel typically means a week you would rather not be seen at work or in photographs, plus a further stretch of pinkness and strict sun avoidance.

BioRePeel has none to minimal downtime. Patients go back to work the same day, and many book it five to ten days before a wedding or a shoot.

That difference is often the deciding factor.

Results

A single classic medium-depth TCA peel can do more than a single BioRePeel. It reaches deeper, and for marked sun damage or fine lines it can produce a larger change in one session.

BioRePeel works through repetition. A base course of three sessions, about three weeks apart, builds the result in steps: tone evens out, pigmentation lightens, fine lines and post-acne marks soften. For many patients the cumulative change over a course is what they wanted, reached without a lost week.

We photograph under fixed studio light at each session, so the course is judged on the images, not on how the skin felt the morning after.

Phototype matters

Deeper peels carry a higher risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation in medium and deeper skin tones. The stronger the injury, the more likely the skin is to respond with extra pigment, which can take months to fade. For that reason, many physicians are cautious with medium-depth TCA in deeper phototypes and prepare the skin for weeks beforehand.

BioRePeel can be used across phototypes with calibrated dosing. Contact time and the intensity of Phase A are adjusted to the skin's reactivity and history. That does not remove all risk, and a first session is always planned conservatively. For patients prone to pigment, including melasma, our article on melasma in South Florida explains why gentler, repeated work usually suits better than one strong peel.

Florida sun after a peel

Any peel leaves the skin more sensitive to UV for a period afterward. With a classic TCA peel, that means weeks of strict avoidance. A beach weekend in Hollywood or Sunny Isles a few days after a medium-depth peel is a reliable way to end up with new pigmentation.

In South Florida, where the summer UV index commonly reaches 10 to 11 and higher, timing helps. Many patients schedule a peel course in the dry season, November through April, when UV levels are lower and life moves indoors more often.

After BioRePeel we ask for mineral SPF every morning, reapplication every two hours outdoors, and a few quiet days without direct beach or pool sun. Remember the car as well: side windows let UVA through on a long drive.

Who each suits

A classic medium-depth TCA peel may suit someone with significant sun damage or deeper lines, a lighter phototype, and a week they can spend at home. That is a conversation for a dermatologist or plastic surgeon.

BioRePeel suits patients who cannot take time off, who are preparing for an event, who have pigmentation or post-acne marks, or who have deeper skin tones and need careful dosing. It is also part of the studio's Acne Correction Protocol, alternated with HydraFacial, and it pairs with microneedling with PDRN at two-week offsets.

If you are not sure which category you fall into, a skin consultation answers it. You can also see the full menu on the treatments page, or read the BioRePeel protocol in detail. When you are ready, book online or call (754) 267-3667.
